Background Information

This suite of online professional learning modules forms the foundation for future learning. The first five modules of the suite form one course of 12 hours. These are prerequisite to subsequent independent modules which will be developed to allow for flexibility in timing and delivery. Modules will be between 1 and 4 hours in duration. Participants will be required to complete tasks throughout the modules and produce a deliverable.

The Department’s current numeracy initiatives (Targeted Early Numeracy, Count Me In Too Online and Taking Off With Numeracy) are based on the numeracy continuum and have a focus on similar quality teaching practices. The alignment of these initiatives in this course will enable teachers to see the learning and developmental progression from K – 8.

New Module available!

Module 6 is a case study of Kotara South PS' implementation of Mathematics Building Blocks for Numeracy. It includes a series of interviews, videos and presentations to view, showcasing one school's journey through implementing professional learning. Kotara South PS have shared many planning and implementation resources they developed as part of their mathematics professional learning plan.

This module is available to view now and will soon be registered as part of a Leading mathematics building blocks for numeracy accredited course.
Module 6 appears in the drop down menu 'Courses'.
